A decade of service. We have been provding quality editing services since 2001. Owned by E. Geiss -- an editor, art historian, and professional writer -- Red Pencil Editing Services works with a variety of clients -- big and small, individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations. The company originally began in Boston as a freelance job when Geiss was a graduate student. In 2003, the company moved to Michigan, created an Internet presense and grew into being a full-time, full-service professional editing company. Red Pencil Editing Services is run by E. Geiss, author of The Right Words for Any Occasion (Publications International, Ltd. 2008) and other texts both in-print and online. Geiss is a current member of the Association of Art Editors (AAE) and other professional organizations and a former member of the American Copy Editors Society (ACES). Company history continued...
Founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 2001, Red Pencil Editing Services started out as a secondary profession for Managing Editor, Erika Geiss, a Brandeis University and Tufts University alumna and Art Historian. In its early years, Red Pencil Editing Services concentrated on serving on the academic community on texts written by students and established scholars.

The joy of editing and simultaneously becoming increasingly frustrated with observing the decline of the English language while out and about had a snowball effect, and the projects that the company took on, grew in size and scope. In 2003, after moving to Michigan, Red Pencil Editing Services gained an Internet presence and increased our client base to include business professionals, corporations and aspiring writers while still serving the academic community.

In late 2004, the company became an LLC and unveiled a new graphic identity. By 2005 Red Pencil Editing Services had assembled a team of freelance editors and proofreaders (the Red Pencil Editing Services wordsmiths) to regularly work with the company's growing client base. In 2007 the company added express editing services on a limited basis and in January 2008 Red Pencil Editing Services added providing content to its projects. In April 2008, Red Pencil Editing Services lauched a new and improved Web site in order to provide its clients with more streamlined and efficient transactions. In 2009, the company added light design services to its options on a limited basis. In 2011 Red Pencil Editing Services got a make-over, and unveiled a new website and logo. Red Pencil Editing Services continues to provide value to its clients and customers, helping them make sure that it's right before it gets published.
